Game Rules

In order to play the game you will need two two-player teams, two plaquitas, two bats, a ball and a piece of chalk to draw two home plates 30 feet apart.  (This could be bigger or smaller depending on the available play area.)

Both teams negotiate how long they want the game to be, either by innings or by whoever reaches x predetermined amount of runs. (25 is recommended).  For short games using innings, two-inning games are best, like in baseball.  Every three outs, the team batting changes.  Mercy rules can also be used. Flip a coin to determine who bats first.

The basic premise of the game

• Knocking down the Plaquita is the goal of the team pitching.  There are no strikeouts, but if     a fly ball is hit and caught, that would be an out.

• If a batter knocks a Plaquita down while scoring or while playing safety that would be an out.

• While the pitcher is getting ready to release the ball, the batter beside the pitcher must

keep the bat touching home plate (in front of la plaquita) to prevent the pitcher from knocking   down the plaquita.

• If the ball is hit, both batters run and have to reach their arm holding the bat to touch the         opposite home plate with the end of their bats in order to score a run. They will continue scoring runs until the ball is thrown back to the infield near the plaquita. The runners will have to go back to protect the plaquita from being knocked down.

• Note:  If the wind knocks down the plaquita it’s not an out.
